Post Show Report. Mir Stekla 2015: Main Show of Glass Industry

On 8-11 June 2015Expocentre Fairgrounds hosted the 17th edition of the InternationalExhibition for Glass Products, Manufacturing, Processing and FinishingTechnology – Mir Stekla 2015. It showcasedthe latest developments and products for glass making and design.

The StekloSouzUnited National Council of the Glass Industry Enterprises and Expocentre ZAOorganized the event with support from the Russian Ministry of Industry andTrade, and under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce andIndustry.

The exhibition occupied 5,000 sqm to accommodate stands of 200companies from 22 countries which showcased state-of-the-art machinery,equipment and tools for glass making as well as many interesting glass productsfor various applications. Italy and China arranged national pavilions todemonstrate their accomplishments.

Mir Stekla is akey event for many Russian industries. Over the four days, the total number ofvisits to the exhibition was 8,000 by professionals of construction, furniture, tool-making and medicalindustries. More than 90% of the visitors attended with an aim to signcontracts.

This year Mir Stekla included such product sectors as modern glassproduction and processing equipment; glass application; instruments andaccessories; test equipment; regulating equipment; software; glasstransportation and storage; workshops, research institutes, schools, andindustry associations.

The ArtGlass Salonshowed many creative ideas embodied in interior design items and the best worksof well-known Russian and foreign craftsmen working in glass painting, stainedglass, glass fusing and lampwork.

The Support Foundation for Young Designers and Architects “Create!” helpedto arrange a historical art glass exhibition. Everybody could talk to AndreyUshakov, an art glass collector and a descendant of a Supplier of His ImperialMajesty Court. He also showed his unique collection of art bottles and glassworks of art. The tour around showcase “The Russian Traditions in Glassmaking”revealed the history of this old craft. 

Mir Stekla 2015 featured many associated events, face to face meetingsand discussions. Several companies made presentations of their products,innovations and know-how.

The centre of attention was the two day InternationalForum on Glass and Modern Technology – the 21st Century organized by theStekloSouz United National Council of the Glass Industry Enterprises andExpocentre ZAO.

More than 30 reports and presentations were madeduring the Forum. They covered all aspects, trends and development prospectstill 2020 of the glass industry.

The Forum brought together heads and specialists of the world’s glassindustry, representatives of research institutes, workshops and designcontractors, and independent experts.

Many participants andindustry professionals evaluated Mir Stekla 2015 very highly.

The next edition of the Mir Stekla Exhibition willtake place on 6-9 June 2016 at Expocentre Fairgrounds.
