Mir Stekla is a networking platform and showcase for the glass industry and manufacturers of translucent structures, architects, designers, constructors and authorities to work closely together to develop and promote innovative developments in the production and use of glass.
Mir Stekla 2022 was a success and once again confirmed its status as a highly respected show for the glass industry, which will undoubtedly serve to promote new technologies, advanced equipment and tools for glass production and processing on the Russian market.

The Business Support Center of the Penza Oblast organised the first group stand of Penza companies, which included FMGroup, Astek Group, and VDS GROUP.

“In the current economic situation, it is necessary to help businesses. That is why the main task of taking part in Mir Stekla was to promote equipment and tools for glass processing produced in the Penza region and to find potential foreign partners.”
Mir Stekla showcased all aspects of the modern glass industry, glass production and processing: equipment and technology for the production of flat glass, glass containers, tools and materials, innovations, research and development, medical, interior, automotive glass, as well as artistic and decorative glass items.
FMGroup manufactures CNC plasma metal cutting machines, automated glass sandblasting machines, furnaces for gravity glass milling, glass breaking tables and much more.
VDS GROUP specialises in tools for sanding, cutting, transferring and gluing glass, straight edged glass processing, faceting and stained glass manufacture. The company introduced grinding and faceting wheels and various glass cutting tools.
Astek Group manufactures and supplies sandblasting machines for patterning glass and mirrors, installations for frosted glass, machines for straight or curved edging, ovens for milling and fusing, ovens for triplex.
Ritservice presented equipment from Bottero, Skill Glass, Best Makina, Satinal and Windo. It is an official representative of these companies in Russia and the CIS. Ritservice offered individually tailored machine solutions for combined lines based on customer requirements for cutting, processing flat monolithic and laminated glass and manufacturing any type of insulating glass.
Meran Group is a supplier of glass processing, storage and handling equipment supplier. The company presented machines for the glass and glazing industry.
OrientIS Technology offered some of the best conditions in the CIS in terms of price-quality for products such as molded kits, refractories and spare parts. In addition, the company provides refractory analysis, charge composition optimisation and audits of foreign refractory suppliers.
ZMT, a member of Axion Corporation, presented test equipment for glassware quality control as well as a device for measuring thickness of non-ferromagnetic materials.
Intmarket, which specialises in the complete supply of machines and consumables for the glass industry, showcased machines for the production of exclusive items in addition to traditional products.
GlassTech, a resident of the Skolkovo Innovation Centre, specialises in the digitalisation of container glass production processes. It was the first time that the company participated in Mir Stekla. It presented software that enables real-time monitoring of all production processes in glass packaging production.

Conference programme
The conference programme of Mir Stekla 2022 was opened by the Conference on the Glass Architecture. It was co-organised by ArchDialog and EXPOCENTRE AO. The participants discussed various possibilities and innovations in the use of glass in construction and the interior of buildings, and looked at examples of original facade solutions using glass.
The Forum on New Challenges for the Glass Industry 2022 was organised by RBC and EXPOCENTRE AO. In a constructive dialogue, the participants discussed the current problems of the glass industry and how exports will pan out.
Deputy Director at the Department of Metallurgy and Materials of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade Roman Kuprin spoke about the situation on the Russian glass market and measures of state support for glass companies. He drew attention to the important and urgent task facing the glass industry market, which is to find opportunities to supply the necessary equipment. Executive Director at the Glass Union Sergey Sekin believes that in today's conditions manufacturers need to expand domestic demand for glass and the state needs to offer effective measures to support the industry.
Commercial Director at Siberian Glass Svyatoslav Perevozchikov spoke about a possible shortage of glassware in the near future. According to the speaker, most of the glass furnaces operating today in Russia are two-thirds used up, and most of the companies that design and manufacture equipment for glass melting and product quality testing are located in Europe and the USA. Similar equipment is not produced in Russia, which will complicate the task of renewal of basic assets for enterprises in the next few years. These issues need to be addressed comprehensively at the level of the government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The forum also focused on the prospects and trends in the industry.
One of the key events of Mir Stekla 2022 was the 4th Forum on Translucent Structures. Windows, Facades, Doors. It was organised by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Committee on Entrepreneurship in the Construction Industry, the Russian Union of Designers, the National Association of Construction Industry Participants, and EXPOCENTRE AO.
Efim Basin, Chair at the Committee on Entrepreneurship in the Construction Sector of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, drew attention to the role of glass for life and comfort. In his opinion, localisation of production of special structures and improvement of the regulatory and technical framework for the use of glass in the construction industry are necessary. Investments are needed to strengthen the production of domestic structures as part of import substitution. State support measures are important in this regard.
The forum's analytical session, led by Viktor Novoselov, President at the Russian Union of Designers, was dedicated to analysing the situation resulting from the sanctions and looking for new solutions in import substitution. Representatives of the industry spoke in detail about what components are missing today, what needs to be done to replace them, and what difficulties there are in reorienting to new suppliers and in logistics.
Reports were made by Andrey Lotsmanov, Deputy Chair at the Committee on Technical Regulation, Standardization and Conformity Assessment of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Nikolay Gavrilov-Kremichev, Head at the Information & Publishing Center “Modern Building Construction”, Aleksandra Kurenkova, Director at the Interregional Institute of Windows and Facade Structures, and Aleksandr Konstantinov, Head at the Test Laboratory of Translucent Structures and Facade Systems at Moscow State University of Civil Engineering.
The forum included a discussion session on the industry and safety of translucent structures, technical regulation, and regulatory support for the use of glass in construction with the participation of major construction companies.
HR issues were discussed at the Conference on HR in the Glass Industry, which was organised by EXPOCENTRE AO, the Russian Union of Designers, Dmitry Chuprina & Partners, and Stroibezpoter. It was about the fact that in the new realities, modern organisations need a fundamentally new management. It is now that HR professionals are facing new tasks and challenges: how to support people and keep them engaged.
Representatives of science and industry were brought together at the Panel on a path from basic research to an innovative product. Aims and objectives of the research and production ecosystem. Pilot production as a necessary element for the development of the science-industry link. The event was co-organised by Grebenschikov Institute of Silicate Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It was devoted to the revival of the technological chain "raw material – research – pilot production – introduction into production", the strengthening of interaction between science and industry. Establishment of pilot production facilities at glass-making enterprises will allow joining efforts to produce competitive high-tech products using fundamental knowledge of research organisations and technological solutions of production.
The panel was attended by the representatives of Grebenschikov Institute of Silicate Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Romashin Obninsk Research and Production Enterprise Technologiya, Vavilov State Optical Institute, Vyatka State University, Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia, the Vasiliev Glass Plant, the Yuzhnouralsky Insulators and Fittings Plant, and other research and production companies.
The show's permanent partner, the Institute of Glass, and EXPOCENTRE, held a Scientific and Practical Conference on Glass Quality to mark the 70th birthday of Aleksandr Chesnokov, one of the leaders of the Institute of Glass, developer of a new generation of energy-efficient translucent structures.
Heads of the directorate and departments of the Glass Institute and representatives of other companies spoke about modern glass technologies in Russian construction, the standardisation and tests that are carried out in the organisation, and presented new materials and sitals. Representatives of companies from quality services gave presentations on complaints about glass products in use, the most common consumer questions and the reasons for glass product failures.
A Meeting on Import Substitution of High-Purity Chemicals for the Russian Industry was organised by EXPOCENTRE AO, the Entrepreneurship Support Fund of Stavropol Krai, and Selenit. The main topic of discussion was the search for import substitution in such an important area of chemical production as high-purity chemicals. Industry organisations and production companies, including LUM, Selenit, the Stavropol Polymer Stabiliser Plant, Ritm-B, the Stavropol Territory Cooperative of NTTs Cooperation, IntOrgLux and others, presented their specific proposals and capabilities.
