Among the manufacturers it is possible to distinguish 6 major players, whose general share in manufacture, by our estimates, makes more than 90 %: OJSC AGC Bor Glassworks, JSC Saratovstroisteklo, JSC Salavatsteklo Ltd., Pilkington Glass, OAO AGC Flat Glass Kleen LLC, Guardian Glass Ryazan.
Among the major trends in the Russian flat glass market it is necessary to mention large companies’ transition to a more progressive float-production technology. At present the Russian glass market follows a trend to involve foreign capital, in particular, Turkish and Japanese investors are being actively attracted now.
Thus, now in the Russian glass market there is some stabilization in comparison with the crisis time. Nevertheless, according to experts’ opinion, current profitability of the flat glass manufacturing is close to zero.
