International Conference. Glass in Architecture: a Fashion Trend or a Break Through?

In association with Expocentre, the Union of Architects of Russia organizes the International Exhibition Mir Stekla which has been held annually since the year 1999 at Expocentre Fairgrounds. The exhibition was assigned with the logos of UFI - the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, and RUEF - the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs.

To develop the glass theme, in 2011 the Union of Architects of Russia plans carrying out of the International Conference Glass in Architecture: a Fashion Trend or a Break Through? and the Glass in Architecture Contest.

These events are held with the support from the Moscow City Architecture Committee and Expocentre. The Conference will be focused on questions of interaction among glass and glassware manufacturers and architects, constructors, designers and all others interested in development of modern architecture. The Conference will take place on April 13-14, 2011 in the Central House of Architect in Moscow.

Besides plenary sessions, the Conference comprises an exhibition of glass and glassware samples, consultations by experts of the field, master classes by domestic and foreign architects. By the time the Conference starts, there will be issued a catalogue featuring information on the Conference participants.

The first stage of the Architectural Contest Glass in Architecture will be held prior to the Conference opening. Within the Conference active days there will be organized an exhibition of all competitive works and presentation of the works nominated for an award. All the competitive works will be published in the Conference official catalogue.

Within the International Exhibition Mir Stekla'2011 (June 06-09, 2011), the Glass in Architecture Contest results will be announced and the First National Award will be assigned to the best realized glass-based project. As well the exhibition will display all the Contest projects.
