On June 13 – 16 Pavilions No. 1 and Forum of Expocentre Fairgrounds will host the largest trade show of the glass industry in Russia, the CIS countries and Eastern Europe – the 14th International Exhibition for Glass Products, Manufacturing, Processing and Finishing Technology Mir Stekla’2012.

The exhibition is the most awaited event of the year, which brings together the interests of professionals of the industry, demonstrates the diversity and splendour of the glass, technical and technological peculiarities of its production and mounting, as well as various spheres of its application.

It is the 14th exhibition, which carries the logos of UFI – the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, and RUEF – the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs, and is held under the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and the Moscow City Government. The scale and dynamics of development of Mir Stekla testify to the great demand and interest towards the exhibition.

According to Yury Gnedovsky, the Honorary President of the Russian Union of Architects, the glass has become a symbol of the development of modern architecture, and such significant number of participating companies testifies to the fact that this field is developing and still attracts a lot of attention.

The Mir Stekla exhibition actively promotes the development of the construction market, the attraction of investments in the domestic glass production and the establishment of economic relations between manufacturers of glass, architects and builders.

Pavilions No. 1 and Forum will showcase more than 250 Russian and foreign companies and enterprises from 27 countries at the exhibition area of 5 500 sq. m. within 4 days.

Among the participants of the exhibition are such established foreign companies as AGC, Guardian, Glaston, Saint-Gobain, Sisecam, Emhart Glass and others. The debutants of the show are Wilcox Corporation, Special Ceramics.

Germany, Italy and the Czech Republic will present their national expositions.

The Russian glass industry will be represented by about 180 exhibitors. Among them are Salavatsteklo, Ritsteklo, Magnezit Group, Podolskie Refractories, Soda JSC and others.

This year the section of the scientific-and-research and design developments expanded: the number of companies offering implementation of new solutions, systems optimization of the production processes for companies of the glass industry has significantly increased (Bakor, R&D Centre; Izomat; Nakal Automatisation Systems).

Pavilion Forum will display a wide range of glass products varying from the automotive glass to the stained-glass windows, as well as the novelties that meet the demands of different industries. 

Section of art and decorative glass will present the new unique ideas and the latest trends in the sphere of art and design, the architectural design of buildings, interior and tableware.

Pavilion No. 1 puts on display the machinery, equipment and tools for glass production, as well as the processing technologies and technical means.

Thematic structure of the exhibition will allow visitors to see the main tendencies of the global glass industry, to estimate both the innovations, and the flight of the human imagination and artistic ideas, embodied in the versatile material.

The Mir Stekla exhibition is a platform for professional communication, effective cooperation between manufacturers of glass products, investors, architects, designers and builders. The beneficial impact of such communication and business contacts has significantly resulted in the growth of the quality of products and services offered on the glass market.

The programme of events of the exhibition incorporates the discussions concerning urgent topics related to the development of the industry. The experts of the industry will exchange their views on the prospects of the use of glass in the construction of buildings and facilities, on issues related to energy saving and safety glass constructions.

The exhibition will include presentations of goods, innovative developments and know-hows made by participating companies.

The business related programme of the exhibition comprises:

-         Conference Active House. Energy Saving Materials And Technologies

A large number of participants will be gathered together within the international contest in nominations High Consumer Qualities of Products and Successful Promotion of High Quality Products organized by Expocentre, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, and ANO Soyuzexpertiza.

The contest is aimed at the enhancement of the competitiveness of glass products and its components on the domestic and foreign markets, as well as the promotion of high quality products from foreign countries to the Russian consumer market.

The contest is attended by Russian and foreign organizations: the exhibitors wishing to submit samples of the goods in the entries for the selected nominations.

Winners of contests are awarded with:

-         Manufacturers/retailers: with the diploma High Consumer Qualities of Products (I, II, and III degrees) and the Quality Medal (gold, silver, bronze).

-         Retailers: with the diploma Successful Promotion of High Quality Products (I, II, and III degrees) with the awarding of the Competition Sign for the further application in advertisement.

The winners of the competition shall be entered in the CCI’s register of the winners of ANO Soyuzexpertiza contest and the list of the Mir Stekla International Exhibition.

On June 15, Pavilion Forum of Expocentre Fairgrounds will host the Award Ceremony for winners in the Glass in Architecture’2012 Competition, as well as the Presentation of the National Award for the Best Implemented Project Incorporating Glass and Translucent Structures within Mir Stekla’2012.

The Glass in Architecture Competition is established by the Russian Union of Architects in 2011, and is focused on a dialogue between architecture and glass business.

The Mir Stekla International Exhibition has been putting on display the materials of the contest and holding the solemn ceremony of awarding of the winners since the last year.

The organization of the competition is supported by the Moscow Committee for Architecture; Moscow Architectural Institute, State Academy; the Glass Enterprises Union of Russia and Expocentre Fairgrounds. The official partners are Moscow Glass LLC, Astarta Prestige Company, Stekloprom LLC.

This year the contest received 43 works of the best architectural associations from Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Perm, Ulyanovsk, Pskov and Yekaterinburg (see the website at www.mirstekla.ru/competition). The jury consisted of the winners of last year’s competition, the leading Russian architects and experts of the glass industry. The first stage of the competition was held at the international conference Glass in architecture: Possibilities of Innovations, which took place at the Moscow Architectural Institute on April 23 – 24.
