Stained glass in design of new Moscow metro stations

Ten new stations opened on the Big Circle Line of the Moscow metro on December 10. Special kinds of stained glass were used to decorate the interior of the new stations, as proposed by specialists. Such glass surpasses traditional finishing materials by its technical and esthetic characteristics.

Michurinsky Prospekt is the fourth station of the Big Circle Line in the western administrative district of Moscow. The main feature of the station is ceiling structures with two alternating panels and luminaires integrated into the bottom edge. There are laser-cut Chinese ornaments in half of the panels made of translucent material with a thin sheet of stainless steel. There is white glass illuminated by LED lights from the inside.

Modern production technologies allow making glass that meets every safety, fire and impact resistance requirement. Glass comes in a great variety of shapes and colors.

New stained glass samples will be on display at the Art Glass salon of the Mir Stekla exhibition that traditionally demonstrates artistic and decorative glass made by various technologies - sandblasting, zinc printing on glass, classic stained glass, screen printing, glass gluing, or glass painting.

Take part in the Mir Stekla exhibition!
